This was the prophecy passed down by the Narnians as a sign of hope in the vast hundred year winter. The newly fallen snow and our tall spruce trees reminded me of the magical white forest in that story, so I had to capture it somehow. The cloak - which reminded me very much of the ones given to the Hobbits in Lothlórien - came from my grandmother who found it when she was about my age and hand sewed the Celtic design onto it, turning it into a family treasure. Sketchbook, hand painted plate, monogrammed napkin: paternal great-great-great-grandmother, born in 1853. The lives of the two women represented by the artifacts on this table spanned from before the Civil War to the end of the 20th century. Every family has artifacts.
